Cron Jobs & Ad Deletion

I am wondering if anyone has tried to use a cron job to automatically delete listings.

I am trying to use the DATE field, a core field in custom fields, to allow users to set their own ad expiry date rather than setting a fixed date in the listing configuration.

Since the DATE field is searchable in the backend, I am thinking that rather than having the user or me manually deleting listings, that this could be done via a cron job.

Where would this field be found in the msql table?

Has anyone done/tried this or is it possible?
