Hi Lee,
You might want to make this topic a Sticky so it doesn't get lost which could happen soon.

Just a thought!.

Default Template - Category-specific Add Listing form -Kinabalu

Hi guys, does anyone have the updated code to do this in the kinabalu template? I must say, I was quite dissapointed to learn that one cannot assign specific fields to specific categories - it seems like such an obvious feature, I didnt even think to look for it in the demo...

Since i'll have to mess around with codes and templates, can anyone point me in the right direction how to do this? All the other posts about this seems quite outdated...

Im running MT 2.2.3 on Jooml! 1.7.0

Thanks in advance!

I have installed this template and made it the default. I've also added the following code to the page_addlisting.tpl.php:

$catfields = array(
29 => array(1,2),
30 => array(1,2),
31 => array(2),
32 => array(2)
// Custom Field ID => array(Category IDs)
);

But when I go to Add Listing in category 1, all the custom fields I have created are showing - not just #29 & 30.

I can't figure out what I'm doing wrong. Can anyone help?

I think you'll find that page_addListing.tmp.php is the same file in both M2 and Kinabalu.

So if you are using the Category-specific Add Listing form it's really only a matter of replacing the file you currently have with the the one in the tem_m2calf-13.zip file. Just remember that when you upgrade Mtree, the upgrade will over-right the file again so you'll have to replace it again.

For users of PaymentsPlus
Note that PaymentsPlus extensively modifies page_addListing.tmp.php and that PaymentsPlus allows you to specify Custom Fields to any subscription product to only show in specified categories. Effectively this feature its an extension of the above Category-specific Add Listing form, BUT, all the values are configured in the Subscription Product and then saved to the database thus you don't need to touch any code in the template itself.

Hope this helps

The code is not the same in the two files, when I overwrite it in Kinabalu, it displays a white page.

I'm guessing that you downloaded the Category-specific Add Listing form from this thread in which case its designed for Mtree 2.20+ where as you are running MT 2.1.8 + Kinabalu + Joomla! 1.5.23 as seen in a tag line from another of your recent posts.

Mtree 2.20 is for Joomla 1.6+ and the blank page will most likely be because of syntax changes.

So what you'll most likely need is the older version of the Category-specific Add Listing form found here: http://forum.mosets.com/showthread.php?t=13511

Hope this helps

Beautiful,you were right ! It works, thanks a lot !
But just a question, is it possible to invert the selection?
Because I would NOT display certain field in a specific category.

Best regards,

Best regards,
It might be possible but without looking at the code, essentially it may be possible to change how the array functions to not include the ID's instead but without playing I couldn't say for sure.

Hope this helps

I have tried installing this on a new site with Joomla 2.5.6, using Mosets Tree 2.2.5.
It seems that the save button no longer works in the front end once the update has been applied, also, even if I specify which categories need to work for the fields in the php file, there is no difference and they are all listed still.

All the custom fields display regardless of which field ID and category ID's etc I use in the php file.

I have set it as the new default template, and it is definitely using the correct file, but just seems to have no effect on the category listings.

Does anyone have any suggestions?

It seems to be that if I revert back to the original addlisting file, the save works again from the front end.
I have upgraded to the latest version of mosets tree now, and tried again with the category specific add listing form again, but it still does not work.

I have noticed that there is a line of code in the calf file that looks like its referencing a js that does not exist in my file tree, see here:

/components/com_mtree/js/jquery-ui-personalized-1.5.3.min.js

when I browse through my site files, that js file is not in that folder location at all. Could this be why the page does not save from the front end?

I have reverted back to the original files, but I would love to be able to specify fields for the user depending on the categories chosen...any advice would be appreciated

Thanks

Default updated m2calf addlisting file

The file in the first post of this thread is not compatible with mt 2.2.6 - the jquery file and Google Maps api have both been changed. I have attached a version that works for mt 2.2.6 in J! 2.5.6. Change the name, of course, to remove "m2calf-"
