Default Any news or roadmap info for Mosets Tree?

Hello,
I am a long term Mosets Tree user, and I was really happy with this component.
But it seems to me like you stopped the improvement and development of Mosets Tree.
There are no news about any new version. So will there be one? If yes, which features/improvements will it provide?

The problem is, that a lot of people I know, are changing from Mosets Tree to other CCK components like SobiPro, Jreviews, K2 etc, because Mosets Tree does not offer a multi-directory function.
I cannot build different sections with different categories. Of course, there is the possibility with the template. But if I would like to hjave two different kinds of directories, like a classifieds and a business directory, then still all categories and sub-categories are shown in the modules. Also the submit form is only one. For this reason, there is no hard separation between these, expect the 'visual' trick with the templates.

However this would be a very good feature request for the next version, as many other components already offer this or added this (like Sobi2 upgrade to SobiPro) via sectioning.

Also I would have the same problem in near future, and because of this shall switch over to another component like jreviews.

So can you tell us any info about:
- Rougth estimation of new Release date (or a roadmap)
- Features of new Realase
- Will new Realase support multi-directory option?

THanks a lot!

Hi payon,

Mosets Tree is still very much in development - in fact I'm working on a major update for Mosets Tree that, among others, includes the ability to create category-specific custom fields, essentially allowing you to create multi-directory. This is just one of the many improvements that has been slated for the update.

It is a big update and that's why it's been taking longer than usual. I can't give you a firm release date for now as it is still in active development, but I'm targetting a release before the end of the year.

Thanks a lot for your reply. This sounds really promissing! And I decided to wait until the new release is published instead of changing to another multi-directory component.

Of course, it would be great to have any estimation, when the new Mosets will be finished. But hopefully you'll inform us here about the progress!

I know, this has been one of the top requested feature. I want to get this right before pushing this out.

Cheers!

Hi,

it's me again. As Joomla 3.0 is now in his Alpha ver. , and a stable should come out in Sept, I would like to ask, if the new Mosets Tree will be compatible with Joomla 3 natively, which would make sense

Best regards

Not likely for 2 reasons.

1) Joomla 3.0 is a short term release support which means its support will end after 6 months or when 3.1 is released. New platform and changes in this version means that it is not a good idea to update immediately to Joomla 3.0 if you are going to use it on a production website.

2) MT 3.0 is built and tested extensively on Joomla 2.5 and this will be the version we recommend and confident that MT will run properly. Joomla 2.5 is a long term support release which means that the project is still mantaining it for bug fixes at least until Spring 2014.

Having said that, there will be future updates going forward to support Joomla 3.0 - either in MT 3.0 or 3.1.

The new official releases is here http://community.joomla.org/blogs/le...2-release.html

After much public discussion over several months, the Joomla Production Leadership Team (PLT) has made it official. We will release version 3.2 in September 2013 and move the 3.5 release to March 2014. This pattern is expected to continue for the version 4.x releases.

Now, version 2.5 will be the current long-term support (LTS) release for two years (March 2012 to March 2014) instead of 18 months. Here is the revised release schedule through version 4.5.

Version 2.5: March 2012 (LTS release)
Version 3.0: September 2012
Version 3.1: March 2013
Version 3.2: September 2013
Version 3.5: March 2014 (LTS release)
Version 4.0: September 2014
Version 4.1: March 2015
Version 4.2: September 2015
Version 4.5: March 2016 (LTS release)

In discussions on list and at several Joomla events, the response to this proposal was very positive. The PLT believes this change preserves the advantages of the 6-month release cycle while giving LTS users a longer time between major upgrades. Like any prediction of the future, it is subject to change (for example, if the world ends, people stop using the internet, or someone proposes a better plan).

The new J 3.0.+ version have a lot of new good features and is far better than J 2.5 in my opinion....
