upgrading mosets from 2.2 To 3.0 - 500 Error Request Timeout

Hi

if I will upgrade mosets from 2.2 To 3.0 I get a:

500 Server Error, Request Timeout: This request takes too long to process....

By the way, it takes more than 5 minutes until the error is displayed.

So, it is not possible to upgrade mosets from 2.2 To 3.0.
its a Joomla 2.5 site an i will go to Joomla 3 with mosets.

Any Ideas what i have to do? I spend many hours now to try anything....
