How Can I have Sub-Categories Arranged In Columns

I have a Category that contains 36 sub-categories. When displayed in the directory, the sub categories are separated with a comma and this looks awkward. Also, when displayed with the Moset Tree - Static Category Module, the 36 sub-categories are arranged vertically in just one column. I would like to have the 36 sub-categories arranged in 6 columns with uniform spacing, like a tabular arrangement. How can I achieve this?
