Default Zipcode and Radius Search for MT/HP

Hello all:

My company is writing a zipcode/radius search module that will allow you to enter a zipcode and radius for MT/HP search. Mosets Tree or Hot Property will then return all entries within the search radius from the zipcode you entered.

We have put together a quick proof-of-concept for MT here:

A good zipcode to try is "48347". It has many zipcodes close by.

If anyone else in interested in this for MT or HP then post to this thread or drop me a line. We should have it finished by the weekend and could use some beta testers. If there is enough interest we will pay for a distribution license for the zipcode database so we can distribute it with the code. For testing purposes we are using a public domain zipcode database that is not as accurate.

If there is anything comparable already out there, I would appreciate hearing about it. We searched and could not find anything like this for HP/MT.

We are converting this to a module that will provide the listings and additional info on each zipcode in HP from census data. The example provided for our locale follows:

Zip Code: 30005
Population: 26,913
Area Code: 678
Households per Zip Code: 9,377
Average House Value: $256,000
State: GA
Avg. Income Per Household: $98,545
County: FULTON
Persons Per Household 2.85
Latitude: 34.0791
White Population: 22,562
Black Population: 1,405
Longitude: -84.2039
Hispanic Population: 971
Elevation: 1050
City Alias(es): ALPHARETTA
Number of Businesses: 1147
MSA: 0520
MSA Name: Atlanta, GA MSA

We think this could prove handy in HP.

I'd be interested in this functionality. You're right...it seems like it could be really useful.

Smile New Zipcode-distance search for Mosets Tree and Hot Property Available

MyMD has created an add-on to the Mosets Tree and Hot Property core that returns all entries that are a (selectable) distance from the user (ex: stores within 25, 50, or 100 miles of zip code 30022). We created another search (AdvSearch3) so none of the original MT/HP functionality is changed. Also, none of your existing modifications should stop working and upgrades are a snap.

It requires a simple modification to one core file and two templates files. We have full details and a zipcode database for the united states available here:

Default Can you not use a milage radius

And just give all stores within a 1-25 mile radius? I was going to code something like this myself but if your product can do it, then it will save me time.

Default I'd be happy to test.

I'd be happy to test your script with my site. However, I'm new to Joomla and still trying to figure out how to import over 9000 listings into my system.

Maybe you could lend me some advice on how to import my categories based on state as the primary and then county as the secondary cat. I have 3066 (counties) subcategories to import into 50 states.

Then I have to import my 9000+ legal listings. I'd be so gratefull for any help I'd give you free banner advertising for a year.

Then, I could help beta test your program.

I wrote a function that did this for USLister.com, just go to advanced search and type in 11801 with X number of miles and it will do a zip code search. However, I cannot release the source to this as I'm under contractual obligations, nor can I sell it, cause it's REALLY freaking fast.
Check it out.
