Info about the "jSMS Text Message"

jSMSWith jSMS you’ll be able to send SMS Text Messages to your subscriber’s cell phones or PDA devices in bulk or by pre-selected department’s right from your Joomla web site. This package includes a Joomla frontend and backend component along with a user subscription module. jSMS is light weight, simple to use and most importantly…works with any cell phone provider that offers an SMS gateway.

In the past getting last minute schedule changes or emergency notices to your clients forced you to send out traditional emails, make tons of phone calls and up-date you web site to get your important message out there. All of this effort paid off only if your clients read their email, got your voice mail or happened to go to your web site to read the important message. With jSMS you can just send your important message or schedule change right to your client’s cell phone as an SMS Text Message. Thus giving you instant access to all of your clients or just a specific department of clients. It’s fast, simple to use and manage and puts you on the cutting edge of today’s communication pipeline.

Installation requires two installs, the component and module. Once you install the component you will receive four menu features under the SMS Text Message heading.

COMPONENT

SMS Text Message:
Here you will type in your subject & text message, select what department will receive you message and then click the ‘Send Message’ button. With the department selection you have the option to select a specific department or select ALL to send your message to everyone within your subscription list.

Subscribers List:
Here you will manage your subscription list. You have the option to ‘Remove’ a listing or ‘change’ a subscriber’s department listing.

Options:
Here you will type in your return email address. Please change this setting to your specific email address. This information is retained in the database so you will only need to set this option once unless you change your receiving email address.

Department:
Here you will be able to create the different departments you want to offer your users to subscribe to. There are three options within this screen, ‘edit’, ‘delete’ and ‘Add Department’.

Once you have your administrator SMS Text Message set-up you can add the component to your menus. The screen layout is the same as what is available to you from the admin login. Word of caution…I strongly advise you to set your user permissions to ‘SPECIAL’ when creating a menu for this component. You may not want just any registered user the ability to send out a text message to you subscribers.

MODULE:

This module is for your users to subscribe to your SMS Text Message service. Once installed, publish it into a module position of your choice to make it available to your users.

Side note about SMS Text Messages:

Some cell phone providers charge their customers a fee to either ‘RECEIVE’ or ‘READ’ their text messages. With this, be mindful that your text message may cost your users, so be careful not to abuse this service.

This application is pre-populated with every major cell phone provider’s SMS gateway. If you have a provider that is not listed, please contact us so we can add it into the code…or you can ‘poke around’ the source code yourself and add it. Finding a provider’s gateway is as simple as doing a Google search.

There are some improvements that would really enhance this application and for those talented programmers out there, have at it! But please remember, we are sharing this so share your revisions and improvements.
